Had an “urgent” call from MRI last night to tell me I absolutely must attend a meeting in London today. It seems they are so concerned at what they claim is happening at Vila Verde that “Our Chairman is willing to take time out of his busy schedule to come and talk to you”.
When I asked what he wanted to talk about I was informed that it was at “Director level only” and would remain top secret until the meeting. If I was a sceptic I would assume that rather than offering advice and support MRI are trying to scaremonger VV buyers into walking away and ‘investing’ in one of their other developments. A win-win scenario for MRI.
Until now I have only passed good comments about MRI, but their conduct during this farce of a telephone conversation has changed my mind. Until I hear otherwise I am committed to completing on our property for the same reasons I decided to buy it in the first place.
So if you get a call from MRI, save yourself 20 minutes hard sell and doom and gloom and just hang up.
Or am I wrong??? Kate

Smacks of complete desperation by a company in its death knell. At best what they are implying is that they sold you one duff investment but here's another one to try. VV is looking superb and I'm not worried.

Hi Kate,
I had the same for an urgent meeting in Leeds several weeks ago and I got the Director level BS as well.
You are not wrong. I, like you, am happy with the way things are going and still want the property as much as when i bought.

I have been informed by a Architect that the build quality on VilaVerde
is fantastic, so for people looking to complete they have every reason
to be happy.

Hi Kate

Thanks for the post, you’re quite correct to post this information and to make others aware of this situation.

I totally agree with George, I could not put it better myself.

I would like to add that all the time this company keeps on phoning up people that bought on Vila Verde in CV, misinforming and LYING to people, people will keep on posting on this matter. Why don’t they email all of this so-called Information, the answer is because it’s totally false.

Kate you’re very correct, it is this company that is very WRONG !!!!!

Once again, thanks for keeping us updated and informing us all that this is still happening.

Hi Kate:- I am similiar to yourself as far as M/R/I are concerned I have only passed good comment as I personally have had no problem with them. However it does worry me when somedody like yourself who seems level headed and is polite feels uneasy. And as "hacker" says the build quality on Vila Verde is fantastic.

Whilst writing fingers crossed that you get a couple of votes in the Cape Verde24 "Top Diva" competition.

Stay Clear

We went to one of the meetings, and came back lighter of a big chunk of money we were saving for our legal fees for Vila Verde.

They basically tell you a pack of lies for an hour about how Tecnicil have gone bust, then spend 2 hours selling their properties. Faced with the prospect of loosing all our investment, we got sucked in.

I would pay good money to have the meeting taped, so it can be used in court, as we are in discussion with the police and Trading Standards regards getting our deposit back.

Just wanted to introduce myself and say well done I have recently returned from Sal and had a very enlightening trip. Am really glad I went to see for myself what a first class job is being done down there, albeit rather slowly. The quality of the build is second to none so whatever MRI Contruction are spouting is ABSOLUTE RUBBISH and just not to be listened too, far less belived.

As MRI they have obviously had a very acrimonious split with Tecnicil (much like a lot of divorce's)over something or other and are resorting to anyway they can to try and get back at Tecnicil without much success it appears to me.

If you fancy having a chat sometime I've posted my contact number before. I'd be delighted to talk to you.

Well done by the way on telling MRI where to get off.

further to my reply earlier - amazingly i got another call today. - started with a "not ready till November" which wasn't too bad but then i got "Ghost Town", 2 beds now on sale for E73,000, Tecnicil facing 2 legal actions, spoken to everyone of the VV residents, 400 pulling out, no golf, no marina,
please don't take my sunshine away!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is a meeting this weekend in Birmingham for the last 200 clients, the main man flying in to give up his valuable time for us.

Can anyone else smell it?

Leverton - I would be interested to know how you are getting on.

You may remember me - I was also scammed out of a few quid at Leeds. I've reported it to the Police.

Are you able to tell me which department I should speak to in Trading Standards?
I spoke to Consumer Direct a few weeks ago but they couldn't help.

Hi All

I had a call from MRI recently, telling me that vila verde 2 beds are going for 45,000 euros(it seems the price drops every phonecall!!), trying to get me into their 'switch and bait' deal. They met their match with me, and when you let them know that you are not going to fall for their scams and bullying tactics, they get totally rude and arrogant (exactly what they did when I told them I didn't want their furniture or rental, when they called me once before). I am amazed they can get any employees, who'd want that job? Am desperate to see them go down. Am reporting to watchdog, trading standards and anyone else I can find!!! I can't work out how they are still trading when they were taken to court in November 2008 and lost the case, MRI have tried to appeal against it without success - good!
